Husband's ex f-buddy responded to him after a month ignoring him..it only made him chase her even more - why?

He seems to have got really frustrated by this particular girl ignoring his advances. Would be interesting to see, now she's caved in, if he keeps chasing her. Maybe he'll stop now she's replied - thrill of the chase, etc. It's no excuse though. What an awful situation.
